Evening desert safari

The volume product of Dubai inbound tourism: an afternoon-to-night 4x4 excursion into the desert combining dune driving, a sunset stop, camp activities, a buffet or BBQ dinner and live cultural entertainment.

Roughly 6 hours end to end; commonly quoted as approximately 16:00 to 22:00, shifting earlier in winter as sunset moves.

Morning desert safari / morning dune bashing

A shorter, earlier version of the desert safari built around dune driving and desert activity in the cooler part of the day, without the evening camp dinner and show.

Approximately 4–5 hours door to door.

Overnight desert safari / desert camping

An evening safari extended to a night under canvas in the desert, with a sunrise element the following morning.

Widely marketed at approximately 12–18 hours; a common structure is a 14:30 pickup and a return to the hotel around 08:30 the next morning.

Premium and private desert safari

A low-volume, guide-led desert experience that replaces dune bashing and mass camps with wildlife drives, falconry, an exclusive or small camp and a plated or fine-dining meal.

Approximately 6–7 hours.

Conservation-reserve safari (DDCR)

A safari operated inside the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve by one of the reserve's permitted concession holders, under DDCR rules.

Al Marmoom reserve experience

Culture-led desert product operating in and around the unfenced Al Marmoom Desert Conservation Reserve — camel caravans, Bedouin village hospitality, falconry displays, Emirati food and stargazing, plus birdwatching at Al Qudra Lakes.

Around 6 hours for a full package; camel caravan legs themselves are short (secondary sources describe roughly 10–12 minutes per ride, often repeated).

Dune buggies and quad bikes

Self-drive off-road activity in designated desert zones — two- and four-seater dune buggies, and single-rider quad bikes (ATVs).

Sessions are commonly sold in 30-minute and 60-minute blocks as safari add-ons.

Camel trekking

Riding a camel through the dunes, either as a short novelty ride at a safari camp or as a longer caravan-style trek across a reserve.

Camp rides: a few minutes. Al Marmoom caravan legs: reported at roughly 10–12 minutes per ride, frequently repeated across a session; some packages describe around 45 minutes of riding across two rides.

Sandboarding

Standing or sitting on a board and sliding down a dune face. Included in almost every safari package at no extra charge.

Hot air balloon over the desert

A sunrise balloon flight over the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve, typically combined with a falcon display flown from the balloon and a desert breakfast.

Falconry

A demonstration or hands-on session with trained falcons — and on some products hawks, eagles and owls — framed around the bird's role in Bedouin hunting culture and modern Emirati identity.

Varies by operator and by format; confirmed per product at the time of booking.

Exclusive-use charter of a motor yacht with crew, sold by the hour, for cruising Dubai's coastline.

Dhow dinner cruise

A dinner cruise aboard a traditional wooden dhow — the vessel type historically used in the Gulf for fishing, pearling and trade — now fitted out with two decks, a buffet and a stage.

Two hours is the standard product; the wider market runs roughly 1h45–2h30, with premium and special-event cruises up to 3 hours.

Dubai Water Canal cruise

A cruise along the Dubai Water Canal, the man-made waterway that links Dubai Creek through Business Bay to the Arabian Gulf.

Two hours as a dinner cruise; shorter sightseeing runs also operate.

Speedboat / RIB sightseeing tour

A fast rigid-inflatable (RIB) sightseeing run along Dubai's coastline with commentary and photo stops.

Jet ski

Self-ride personal watercraft sessions along designated stretches of Dubai coastline, usually sold in 30- or 60-minute blocks with a guide riding alongside.

Parasailing

Being lifted by parachute behind a tow boat for an aerial view of the coastline, launched and landed from the boat deck.

One Dubai operator publishes approximately 10–12 minutes in the air within a total experience of roughly 45 minutes to 1 hour, including a 20–30 minute boat ride.

Flyboard

A water-jet-propelled board, tethered to a personal watercraft, that lifts the rider above the water surface.

Deep sea fishing charter

A crewed sport-fishing charter into the Arabian Gulf, sold as a private boat by the hour or as a shared trip.

Four hours is the common short charter; longer half- and full-day options exist.

Deep Dive Dubai

A purpose-built indoor dive pool in the Nad Al Sheba neighbourhood of Dubai, verified by Guinness World Records as the world's deepest swimming pool for diving.

Open-water scuba diving (Dubai and the East Coast)

Boat diving in Dubai's own waters and, more commonly, day trips to the UAE east coast around Fujairah and Dibba where visibility and reef life are better.

Helicopter tour

A short scenic rotary flight over Dubai's coastline and skyline, sold per seat (shared) or per aircraft (private).

Skydive Dubai (tandem)

A tandem parachute jump strapped to a licensed instructor, from one of two drop zones.

Half-day Dubai city tour

The standard orientation tour of Dubai, pairing the old city around Dubai Creek with photo stops at the modern landmarks.

Approximately 4–5 hours including hotel pickup and drop-off in an air-conditioned vehicle with a guide.

Full-day Dubai city tour

The half-day itinerary extended with paid attraction entries and lunch — typically adding one or two of Burj Khalifa At the Top, Museum of the Future, Dubai Frame and a mall or waterfront stop.

Old Dubai walking and heritage tour

A guided walk through the Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood and the Deira souks, on foot and by abra rather than by coach.

Dubai food tour

A guided eating walk, usually through Old Dubai (Deira, Al Ras, Bur Dubai) or through the expatriate food neighbourhoods, with multiple tasting stops and cultural commentary between them.

Abu Dhabi day trip

A full-day excursion from Dubai to the UAE capital, built around the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and one or two paid attractions.

Sharjah heritage tour

A half-day cultural excursion to the neighbouring emirate of Sharjah, focused on Islamic art, heritage architecture and souks.

Hatta day trip

A day out to Hatta, an inland exclave of the Emirate of Dubai in the Hajar Mountains — mountain and wadi scenery rather than desert or city.

Musandam (Oman) day trip

A cross-border day trip from the UAE to the Musandam peninsula — an exclave of Oman separated from the rest of Oman by UAE territory — for a dhow cruise through fjord-like khors.
