Camel trekking

Riding a camel through the dunes, either as a short novelty ride at a safari camp or as a longer caravan-style trek across a reserve.
Camp rides: a few minutes. Al Marmoom caravan legs: reported at roughly 10–12 minutes per ride, frequently repeated across a session; some packages describe around 45 minutes of riding across two rides.
How it operates
Camp rides are a few minutes on a led camel. Caravan treks in Al Marmoom or the DDCR are longer, guide-led and framed as heritage transport — the 'ship of the desert' — often ending at a Bedouin camp for a meal.
For agents
Operating and selling mechanics
- Listed by DDCR as a permitted in-reserve activity, so it can be delivered inside the conservation reserve as well as at commercial camps.
For travellers
What to brief your guests on
- Mounting and dismounting is the part guests find hardest — the camel kneels and rises sharply.
- Not suitable for guests with back or hip problems, or for late-stage pregnancy.

Made to measure
Our Dubai team arranges the hotels, transfers and excursions on the ground across all seven Emirates — so the programme is assembled around the dates you send us, not around a fixed departure calendar.
The fleet is ours, and so is the team that dispatches it.
