Old Dubai walking and heritage tour

All experiences
  • Direct guests
  • culture
  • small groups

A guided walk through the Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood and the Deira souks, on foot and by abra rather than by coach.

How it operates

On foot and by abra rather than by coach. The walk covers Al Fahidi's lanes and restored wind-tower houses, crosses the Creek by abra, and continues through the Spice and Gold souks in Deira, often finishing around Al Ras. Where a cultural meal at the SMCCU is included it is booked in advance and seated communally.

For agents

Operating and selling mechanics

  • This is the strongest 'authentic Dubai' product in the city and the right counterweight to a skyline-only itinerary.
  • Walking-based, so avoid midday in summer; early morning or evening only, June–September.
  • SMCCU capacity is genuinely limited — do not promise it to a group without a confirmed booking.

For travellers

What to brief your guests on

  • It is a walking tour, so between June and September it runs early morning or evening only.

Key components

  • Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood — coral-stone houses, restored wind towers, small museums and art spaces
  • Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Centre for Cultural Understanding (SMCCU), running cultural meals and guided heritage walks with Emirati cultural presenters
  • Abra crossing of Dubai Creek
  • Spice Souk and Gold Souk, Deira
  • Al Ras — the older, denser end of Deira, served by Al Ras metro station

About the SMCCU

  • Cultural meals are described as being hosted in a traditional wind-tower house, with communal tables, Emirati dishes and an open question-and-answer format covering religion, traditions, dress and etiquette.
  • Programmes have limited capacity and must be booked in advance.

Made to measure

Planned entirely around you.

Our Dubai team arranges the hotels, transfers and excursions on the ground across all seven Emirates — so the programme is assembled around the dates you send us, not around a fixed departure calendar.

The fleet is ours, and so is the team that dispatches it.
