Premium and private desert safari

All experiences

  • Trade

A low-volume, guide-led desert experience that replaces dune bashing and mass camps with wildlife drives, falconry, an exclusive or small camp and a plated or fine-dining meal.

Approximately 6–7 hours.

How it operates

Afternoon hotel pickup, with the exact time confirmed on the day of travel, and a road transfer out to the reserve or to a private camp. The drive is a guided wildlife run rather than a dune-bashing run — operators use either open vintage Land Rovers or modern Defenders, with a conservation guide aboard. A falcon flies at sunset, the camp programme follows with Arabic coffee, heritage stations, a seated multi-course dinner and live performance, and the return transfer reaches the city late evening.

Typically included

  • Shared or private premium vehicle with a dedicated conservation guide
  • Nature / wildlife drive rather than dune bashing
  • Falconry demonstration
  • Camel ride
  • Multi-course dinner with beverages
  • Cultural entertainment and stargazing
  • Hotel transfers

Not included

  • Overnight accommodation (usually an optional add-on)
  • Hot air balloon flight (usually a separate add-on)
  • Private vehicle unless specified

For agents

Operating and selling mechanics

  • The two credible premium formats in Dubai are (a) vintage open-top Land Rover heritage safaris and (b) modern Land Rover Defender luxury safaris — Platinum Heritage markets both as its Heritage Collection and Platinum Collection respectively.
  • Premium safaris are the right answer for incentive groups, media, and any client who has already 'done' a standard safari.
  • A share of the safari fee going to conservation is a common and defensible selling point for reserve-based product.

For travellers

What to brief your guests on

  • Winter safaris are genuinely cold once the sun is down; warm clothing is advised from November to March.

How it runs in practice

Platinum Heritage's Heritage Desert Safari, operating in the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve, is a documented example of the format: approximately 7 hours total, hotel pickup 14:00–16:30 (exact time provided around midday on the day of travel), drop-off 21:30–23:30. Hotel transfers are in a shared air-conditioned vehicle. Guests receive a complimentary traditional headscarf and stainless-steel water bottle, take a 60-minute nature safari in a vintage Land Rover with a conservation guide (some vehicles seat up to 10; private vehicle on request), watch a falcon performance at sunset, arrive at a Bedouin camp for Arabic coffee and dates, visit live bread-making, coffee-making, henna and camel-ride stations, sit down to a four-course traditional dinner, and see interactive drumming and Yola performances before the return transfer. The operator states camp capacity is restricted to 75–100 guests.
