The resort island — a trunk of towers, fronds of villas and a crescent of flagship hotels.

What it is

An artificial palm-shaped archipelago in the Gulf, developed by Nakheel and constructed by the Dutch dredging specialist Van Oord; construction began June 2001. Roughly divided into a trunk, residential fronds, and an outer crescent breakwater. Resident population over 25,000 as of 2022.

  • The trunk is the single road on and off the island — one incident closes the whole Palm
  • Atlantis forecourt on weekend evenings and during Aquaventure opening/closing waves
  • The crescent has no U-turns for long stretches; a missed turn costs significant time

With the monorail suspended, every Palm movement is a road movement. Budget more vehicle time than the map suggests.

Bookings are unavailable through 31 August 2026 and resume 1 September (Khaleej Times, 17 April 2026). Re-verify before selling.
